Tigre's Foal Crop

Tigre was born on Rea Swan's farm out of her stock. He was sold to Texas as a weanling to an individual. The individual reached out to us to see if we wanted to buy Tigre. By this time, Tigre had matured into a young stallion with no saddle training. We agreed to buy Tigre. Tigre was hauled to our property and he was here less than a day before we hauled him to a trainer, Artie Guidroz in Lousiana. Artie unloaded Tigre out of the trailer and led him to a round pen and started working with him in the roundpen. He layed Tigre down as part of the exercise. He saddled Tigre and rode him while we watched. Tigre was gaiting on that first day. It was amazing to watch Artie Guidroz work with this stallion in such a short period of time right after the horse had been led off of the trailer.

An interesting story: Artie was riding Tigre and up ahead there was a large log. As they got closer, the log moved and Tigre did a 180 degree turn. Artie stayed on. We're thinking not many Rocky stallions have encountered a live alligator in the wild!

Since this time, Tigre has proved himself to be an outstanding stallion. Easy to handle in the stall, pasture and arena. He loves being in a pasture with his herd and gets very upset when we move mares out of his herd. So we just quit rotating mares around and have him settled in with 3 mares and they are a very happy and peaceful herd. He protects the mares. He protects the foals. He plays with the foals. It's just sublime.
